Strange choice if you ask me!
Should the scouting world bureau of WOSM be located where scouting attracts many or should it instead be located in a region where scouting needs a boost? Or should it be located in a city with other, for scouting, important organizational head offices like the International Red Cross, European Union or the United Nation?
I think none of this should be subject to location rather placing the central office in London, the birthplace of scouting. Preferably in conjunction with the WAGGGS (World Organization of the Girl Guides and Girld Scouts) head office. By doing so maybe this will end a discussion that's been going on in decades and once and for all bring peace for the organization; its staff and members.
London, being a leading global city, is one of the world's leading financial centres and has the fifth- or sixth-largest metropolitan area GDP in the world depending on measurement. It is the world's most visited city as measured by international arrivals and has the world's largest city airport system measured by passenger traffic.
So, besides placing the head office in a metropolitan city, it moves back to its place of origin, gives an important and desirable approach to its twin organization and hopefully let us focus on much more important issues than that of moving around the world scouting central office. |
